Important Usage Notes:

Beta Version: This extension is currently in development and is being continuously improved.
Verification Required: Large Language Models (LLMs) can occasionally produce errors. Always verify critical information before sharing.
Google Gemini API cost: Google will give you $300 in free credits when you sign up, but you will be charged by Google if you exceed these free credits. Generating one Bridging Comment will cost about 5 cents.

LLM Details:

1. Current Model: The extension currently uses Google's Gemini-1.5, grounded in Google search. Users need to input their own Google API keys.
2. Future Plans: We are actively working on changing the prompts for better use of the Extension.

How To: Get a Google Gemini API Key

Follow these steps to acquire your Google API key and integrate it with the Facebook NewsBridge:

1. Ensure You Have a Google Account
   Make sure you are logged into your Google account.
2. Add a Payment Method
   You will need to add a valid payment method to your Google account, as some Google APIs require billing to be enabled. You will not be billed at this time. Google will give you $300 credits when you sign up.
3. Access the Google Cloud Console
   Navigate to the Google Cloud Console.
4. Create or Select a Project
   Choose an existing project or create a new project to associate with the API key.
5. Enable the Gemini API
   In the Cloud Console, go to the APIs & Services section. Use the search bar to find the Gemini API and enable it for your project.
6. Generate API Credentials
   Once the API is enabled, go to the Credentials section on the left-hand menu. Click on Create Credentials and select API Key.
7. Copy Your API Key
   After creating the key, copy it from the credentials screen.
8. Integrate the API Key with NewsBridge
   Paste the API key into the NewsBridge Facebook Extension to complete the integration.
