OSoMe researchers collaborate with a wide network of academic, industry, and civil society partner organizations around the world.

We are part of the Knight Research Network, which includes the Center for Informed Democracy and Social Cyber-Security (IDeaS) at CMU, the Institute for Data, Democracy, and Politics (IDDP) at George Washington University, the Center for an Informed Public (CIP) at the University of Washington, the Center for Communication and Civic Renewal (CCCR) at the University of Wisconsin, the Center for Social Media and Politics (CSMaP) at NYU, the Center for Information, Technology, and Public Life (CITAP) at UNC Chapel Hill, the Stanford Internet Observatory, the Center for Media Engagement at the University of Texas, and many other economic, legal, and policy research centers.

In addition, we have active collaborations with the Machine INtelligence and Data Science (MINDS) research group at USC, the Computational Sociodynamics Lab at the University of Maryland, the Lazer Lab at Northeastern University, and Brendan Nyhan at Dartmouth. We participate in MisinfoCon, the Duke Tech & Check Cooperative, the First Draft Academic Partner Network, and the Aspen Cybersecurity Collaborative Network.

The Observatory on Social Media is deeply concerned about the growing number and intensity of intimidation and harassment campaigns aimed at silencing researchers and undermining their important public-interest work. We are committed to supporting our colleagues — no matter their discipline, professional level, or status — and we pledge to stand up for these researchers and their rights. We pledge to raise awareness of this problem among funders, professional associations, and university administrators. We will advocate for the institutions that employ, represent, and fund us to take greater responsibility for addressing the risks that researchers face as a part of their important work.
